    Hi,

I am looking for some information - and I reckon a lot of newbies like me may be looking for information like this - so perhaps it could be put up as a sticky if we get good responses.

I am currently building a new house and I am trying to evalutate what my TV options are: From what I see I understand that I have the following choices:

    1. Aerial on the roof. Will only receive RTE 1,2, TV3, TG4,
    2. Chorus (am in the middle of the countryside). Will get a lot of the channels - but very poor system, slow etc
    3. Sky - Sky +, Sky HD etc. Good but pricy
    4. FTA box set on my tv.

Am I correct in beliving that they are my choices? Do I have anymore. If so, what do people recommend? How does the FTA work and what channels are available? Is it the same as NTL??

    Thanks in advance.

A lot depends on where exactly the new house is going.

If its remote like where I live, aerial, cable, wireless, broadband etc are all out of the question - satellite is the only option (and imho not a bad one :) , especially with a motor on the dish ).

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

    Similar thread recently....
    http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055038275

Channels such as all the BBC and ITV channels are Free-to-air (FTA) on satellite, so future proofing with the Sky+ set-up that byte describes in that thread might be of use.
