40 arrested in gang swoop and cluster bombs

I got yesterdays herald on the 26h but I saw a headline from the previous day that said 40 arrested in gagn swoop, did this happen I strangely can't find much reportage on this swoop anywhere else ?

ps aren't cluster bombs, a bomb with a device with a cluster of 'bombs' in it?

while they describe the bombs on the inside as being a pipe bomb with metal fragements and a shot gun cartridge in it which could be described as sharpnel bombs, or fragmentation devices even an IEDs but not a cluster bomb.

all the talk of cluster bombs in Lebanon this summer and the Herald want to get in on the action.

That article was a disgrace.
It wasn't a cluster bomb, the very idea of which is laughable. Actually it's not even accurate to call it a bomb. It was a piece of a bomb. It had some explosives and some nails, but no detonator or power unit - so it was. in effect, not a bomb, more like a dummy.The fact that it was brought to Garda HQ and then made safe shows there wasn't too much concern about it.
Cluster bombs, as far as I'm aware, are dropped from planes and scatter thousands of small bomblets over a defined radius, something like the size of a football pitch.
That's high tech stuff, not something that can be made by some ex Provo in Louth.

The 40 people arrested were all about executing old warrants,that's all. None of the reports I read mentioned anything about those people being gang related.

Cluster bombs me arse.
