...Or just never get themselves into the situation ?

I've been pretty much an online cash donk but have been getting a little bit better lately, I usually only play it when I have a short amount of time to spare i.e not enough to play a tournament...this is the kind of situation I've been tending to get into trouble with.

OK, so I know that I have no business being in this hand, but I haven't seen a flop in almost three orbits an I haven't played a single hand oop, not that I'm expecting an awful lot of notice to be paid to that here at .5/1 on Full Tilt.
I've been a complete rock and the only hand they've seen was a monster. Villan has been in for one lap and has folded one flop where he called a small raise and has re raised All In the two other PF raises that were before him.

    Seat 1: Seat 1 ($112.60)
    Seat 2: Seat 2 ($110.15)
    Seat 3: Hero ($93)
    Seat 4: Seat 4 ($77.10)
    Seat 5: Seat 5 ($17.90)
    Seat 6: Seat 6 ($96.50)
    Seat 7: Villan ($42.50)
    Seat 8: BB ($26.50)
    Seat 9: Seat 9 ($162.65)
Villan posts the small blind of $0.50
BB posts the big blind of $1
The button is in seat #6
    *** HOLE CARDS ***
    Dealt to Hero [9h Qh]
    Seat 9 folds
    Seat 1 folds
    Seat 2 folds
    Hero calls $1
    Seat 4 calls $1
    Seat 5 folds
    Seat 6 raises to $4
    Villan calls $3.50
    BB folds
    Hero calls $3 ???
    Seat 4 calls $3
    *** FLOP *** [Ts 9s Qd]
    Villan checks
    Hero bets $9 ???
    Seat 4 folds
    Seat 6 folds
Villan raises to $38.50, and is all in

In almost every tournament scenario, with similar stacks and the Villans profile this is an instacall for me. Is there any reason why I should think differently in a cash game?
Perhaps the correct question is , If I suspect hes a lag is this a +ev call

    Hero calls $29.50 ???

The out come this time is irrelevent but it is below anyway.

    Villan shows [Js Ks]
    Hero shows [9h Qh]
    *** TURN *** [Ts 9s Qd] [3h]
    *** RIVER *** [Ts 9s Qd 3h] [Jd]
Villan shows a straight, King high
Hero shows two pair, Queens and Nines
Villan wins the pot ($91) with a straight, King high
    *** SUMMARY ***
    Total pot $94 | Rake $3

I haven't read the outcome yet, but obviously you know not to be open limping with Q9s, and then to be calling a raise with it. So to answer your original question, I would never be in this situation to begin with.

Patience you must learn, my little Padawan...

As played it's a lead out and a call.

    I'd call.

Going to look at the spoiler now and edit. 1 sec.

fold pf, even without the raise fold pf.

meh, guess you have to call but I wouldn't be feeling great about it.

I think you should fold the flop. Also please dont give results in a post.

The guy checkraises all in, his range here completely kills you. He will have a set or straight most of the time, and the other times will have some sort of combo draw that you are 50 50 against.

As everyone says i shouldn't be in the hand.

In a tournament I'm not inclined to rate his hand that highly....I'm strongly thinking he smells weakness... I can survive being wrong.
But in cash every hand is the prize and I'm not giving the check raise enough respect. You are right should be certian his range crushes me but I'm somehow stuck with tournament thinking.

My problem is that I'm only playing for short 20 or 30 minute sessions and that just isn't enough time. As the time runs out I'm inclined to get all loose and looking to gamble with anyone I've identified as a live one.
Maybe I'd be better off leaving it alone as long cash sessions just feel like a bit of a grind.

    Thanks for the replies.
