Haven't seen this posted already (a bit unusual that, or else I'm blind) but the Wii News channel (version 1) has gone live..

    More info on Eurogamer: here.

So if your disc slot is glowing blue, you've got news... (Or else, launch the news channel, check for a system update, install the update, and now you've got news)..

It's a day early, rejoice! Just started messing about with it now and I think it is fairly cool so far!

its just txt and pics innit???

    gonna install it after work.

i wouldn't be suprised if today was the launch day and they just said tomorrow as a 'just in case' thing.

Very easy to use, like the weather you can spin around the globe and get news from areas you want. There is a new ticker thing to and search news by category. I reckon it'll get a fair bit of use. Not much news related to Ireland but nintendo said it will relaunce later in the year with more regional news availability.

happy days sounds cool enough...i'd use it anyway and it might be a good gimmick to keep the younger folk (and most of us older kids :p) in touch wit whats goin on in the world

Only used it for a minute (Mario Kart was waiting to be downloaded) but from first impressions its really good. Quite a lot of news out there! I like the way the 'news' piles up at each location and when you zoom in on the actual article the words rearrange to fit in the box, rather than just get bigger like it does on the Wii internet.

I've been playing around with it for about 90 minutes there - very impressed, it really is done so well. The variety of the news available is pretty decent and for those of you compaining about text size on the Internet channel this is perfect. The background has a newspaper stationary effect and there's several zoom modes available, although the default view was perfect viewing it on my tv from about 5-6 feet away. Well done ninty; between this and the forecast channels I can now see why they were reclutant to use the internet on their previous consoles until they could "do something different/new" with it. Thumbs up from me:)
