Ok ,it's taken me a while to get around to doing some purchasing on the net.
My problem is ,I don't know where to look for DVDs . With all the talk of goods getting stopped and this and that.
Where is the best place to order well priced DVD's ,without worrying about anything happening to the delivery?.

I ordered a couple last night from legacyUK on amazon ,in the mouth of madness and irreversible . Films recommended here:) ,says it takes nearly two weeks for delivery

I use http://www.play.com and http://www.playusa.com for region 1 DVDs. They're very well priced, don't charge for shipping and deliver very fast.

That was the first place that came to mind ,but I thought people were getting stuff stopped coming from play.com?

To be honest www.dvdpricecheck.co.uk is your best bet.

I've never had any problems what so ever. I've ordered 122 DVDs from them and all of them have come through. Last delivery I got was on the 16th January. I did have one order that didn't come, but once I contacted Play, they reshipped my order and that came through. I've ordered 10 DVDs from playUSA and no problems there either. The only problems I did have was with Amazon.com.

Is there a limit on the # of cd's or the price over which you are charged by customs?

Don't know, to be honest. If I order multiple DVDs from Play, they ship seperately. I've never gotten charged for bulk packages from anywhere else. I've ordered some pretty heavy stuff from the US and even that never needed custom charges.

there were issues before christmas with packages from Play valued over €22 being held by customs. Not sure if this is still happening or not but if your paying under €22 per DVD you should be fine as they will all be shipped separately.

I buy most of my DVDs from play.com and nothing has ever been stopped on me. I do believe that I have ordered things that were over €22 there before christmas, and they all arrived fine, so I do wonder if this is all scaremongering.

Although I do find that it's worth a look in HMV now and again, you can find some bargains sometimes.

Ive bought hundreds of dvd's online from many retailers but by far the best place to buy has to be play.com. Absolutely class. Fast free delivery, excellent customer service, great selection and some of the best prices on the net. The only place I bother buying from now.

Play.com is very good, on occasion cdwow (.ie or .com), always good for money off vouchers (see Bargain Alerts :)) but not as much as I used to.

I like the HMV website ,how are they for service ? .Presume they're big and clean.

They are very slow. I've ordered from them 3 times and each time it took them almost 2 weeks to ship. And this was for new releases. So don't order if you want it quick. I do find them occasionally good for boxsets however.

I probably use cdwow.com the most, probably because of all the vouchers floating around and the multiregion dvds.

Cheers Professor ,Ruu mentioned CDwow aswell. I will give their site another go and see what becomes of it.

I've only used them once, and it did take a long time.

I'd probably use hmv alright, I think long deliveries would only bother me if the goods were breakable.

From play.com or wherever how do you know the region?I can't see it anywhere and since I'm ordering battle royale 2 I'm not sure if it will work on my dvd.

EDIT:I was being stupid and just found it there.

    Oh and its this one.

I thought nearly every dvd player can be made region free by putting in a code with the remote.
I've gotten codes for two players on the net.

    Region 2 DVDs

www.play.com - frequently the cheapest. Free delivery. Stuff takes approximately one week to arrive. Have had no problems with items greater than €22 being stopped.

www.sendit.com - also free delivery but slower to ship. Do not send everything separately like Play.

www.amazon.co.uk - they charge shipping but they have a slightly better selection than Play (and for music are way better). Stuff takes just two days to arrive as they now ship from Ireland. Good deals on Marketplace.

    Region 1 DVDs

www.amazon.com - best selection of the lot. Usually cheapest but postage costs bring the price up. Have never had a problem with customs. They seem to ship via Germany.

www.playusa.com - have had no problems but selection isn't the best.

    Region 4 DVDs (Australia)

    www.ezydvd.com.au.
    www.jbhifionline.com.au

the above two have the best selection and prices.

Australia is great for archive television releases (both UK and Australian programmes).
