in fairness, there is no evidence to suggest it was an add made by sony - i have read it was a 3rd party. Granted, its not great, but i don't think it is Sony's fault.

well i don't like sony so anything that messes with them is good for me.
besides i think that blue ray is going to los this war.
as far as i remember VHS won only because the pron industry sided with them and i think they have now sided with HD.

The only movie i have seen for sale in blu ray is Saw III and i dont see what is so great about it. I mean for games it just means you dont have to change disc if its a massive game but that does not matter because it takes 2 seconds to change disc.

Storage if your pc read blu-ray and you could burn it then blu-ray has a use but besides that i see no purpse for it

the pron issue is no more so that cannot be an argument in this battle http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Disc_Announcements/Vivid/Blu-ray_PornGate_Ends_with_the_Return_of_Debbie_Does_Dallas/445 [Safe] and its a totally different environment to the 70s/80s betamax/vhs war, people use the internet for their "needs", its not going to decide which format this time around.

not a fanboy (have 360, wii and ps3 preordered) but i do think that blu-ray will win, more manufactors, more distributors, more studios = success in IMO.

the hd-dvd add on, is nice and all but id prefer a single all in unit, we all know how successful add ons have been in the past

    Mega-cd2.jpg

and if in 360v2 microsoft decide to put in a hd-dvd drive it will piss off a lot of people including me who have spent a lot of money on an out of date console and alienate their loyal customer base.

"someone over at the Sony Connect Web site, which features "downloads powered by Sony","

It is close enough to home to be embarrassing and whoever done it will get a swift kick in the teeth. Quite funny to be quite honest.

As for the whole porn crap deciding the winners of in a format war. I remember reading **** like this about 4 years ago when I was researching my thesis. Back then it was how the porn industry were the main drivers for media streaming, online commerce, DRM and god knows what else.

To be honest, the amount of people referring to the industry at this stage is becoming boring and reallty starting to piss me off.

joe316 are you actually comparing the Mega CD to the HD-DVD addon for the 360? One allowed you to play crap games. The other gives you next-gen home cinema capability aswell as crap games. Maybe even good ones down the line.
