So my father is hitting fifty next month and I was looking to get him something unusual for it. He's a hard guy to buy for at the best of times as his interests really only include gardening, walking and reading (Irish history mainly).

I was considering a holiday but the mother got in there with that one first. He doesnt like parties and the like so were not going to bother with that and thats why I want to get something that bit more unusual.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated, I dont really want to have to resort to buying him garden stuff (again).

Hey, lads thanks for the suggestions. I've been dropping hints about those, but he's expressing no intrest.

I think ill just end up getting him underwater lights for his pond or something.

Does he like an odd Whiskey? If you can afford it, you could splash out and get him a bottle of Midleton.

Nice idea myth, he's more of a wine man though, and I got him a nice mixed case for xmas so trying to stay clear of that one. Thanks for the suggestion though.
