Antes cost time and are awkward in my opinion. Plus from what I can see they are not used properly in Ireland at all (they were designed to slow the structure down , not be an additional tax on players. I'll rant another day on this). Anyway, in a 60 minute tournie with 15k starting I think you'll get more hands per hour without antes. Just my 2c.

Yeah, I have a feeling a lot of Greenjokerpoker's online players will be cashing in their loyalty scheme money to play this for nothing!

Just a quick note that you do NOT need to save up your action points to use your sponsorship fund. They are merely a guide as to how quickly your fund accumulates.

Yeah, I should have said "money" (corrected it now).

Money is much better then points... *cough*

    Totally agree.

I would suggest your online GF to the main event be a ticket only package to generate more tickets. Recently JP's online ticket only(incl reg) GF for the IPC worked well.

For the main event we need to include some exes as the tournaments are open to bluesq and uncover as well. Most of their players are UK based. It will be a nominal $300 exes with the cost of a single room for three nights included in the package. At current ex rates this values a package at $2100.

If any locals win then the cost of the room can be put towards a side event if no accom is needed or used in a deal to create more tickets.

If we think can fill a few GJP only satellites for ticket only then we will add them but most people will want to stay anyway.

I will get a STT table for tickets only put up also but this wont happen until the switch to playtech.

Posters will be printed within the next week or so and we will distribute to all who wish to have them in their clubs. I will be in touch with club owners in the next week to co-ordinate satellites.

Run as many as you can Neill. I will try and make it down for your festival and help run the sats.

Why are there so many good events on in May - does no one have any sympathy for me - fecking exams at the end of May :(

Hopefully I'll still make it to one of these excellent tournies though, the structure for GJP main event looks like great value.

    Nice structure.

The only thing I'd change is to make it a 90min clock and 10k starting stack. I don't think the extra 5k makes a difference [other than promoting daft play from me early on] but an extra 30mins would.

But I quite understand that it would last a week that way. Especially the way Carigeen plays.

I agree with that , I think they play a very important role in any deepstacked tourny

PS Neil I'll PM on that mobile number;) Im relying on you !!!!!!!!!

antes aren't needed, the structure is the best in Ireland, actually, just one of the best structures in general.

Totally agree the structure is excellent and I would also say for 1k vital for anyone planning to play bigger buy ins in the coming months.

But I still feel antes are an integral part of a deepstack tourny. The dynamic around the button changes on the introduction of antes and more so as the antes become more relevent. I would also argue it encourages action and obviously makes it more valuable to both attcak and defend the blinds.

I will still be playing as I agree it is a very good structure but I would still strongly recommend the introduction of antes

the structure is the same as any other major buy-in 1 hour clock game, (bar the Irish Open) top drawer. the starting stack is in a league of its own but i agree with what Pat said above and think the introduction of antes would be a plus for the tournament. either way its going to be a cracking game which i am looking forward to playing.

I haven't done the research..but.. I think there are more levels in this than the IPC (plus no antes, larger starting stack), and from reading other posts, the Irish Open is missing other levels,

Also Mike, Tom and Luke were great, theyrepeated a level on day 2, and one on the final table (day 3), because time allowed it. I've never played at an event where the organisers running the event were willing to do this, all other places will stick exactly to the structure advertised as they want people in the cash games or out the door to save costs.

Same for me, bang in the middle of my finals. Just about impossible for me to play.
It's ****ing ridiculous using a pot limit structure for a No Limit event, but I can't complain, I haven't had to play a hand for hours

Well, the structure is different than other deepstack events. However, it was an unbelievable experience playing deep into the tournament without antes.

I would like to politely remind the most vociferous supporters of Antes in this thread that none of them went deep in this tournament back in November. I'm not saying this to be smart - I simply mean that they did not experience the lengthy structure without Antes (obviously, all of you guys have extensive deepstack experience from other tourneys).

The argument for antes is that they encourage action; but a drawback is that they reduce the number of hands played per hour (and thus per level), and they put below average stacks Under greater pressure earlier. Anything that can be done to keep stacks comfortable and discourage people getting it all in pre - flop is a good thing IMO.

Mike/Tom (or anyone that knows the answer), What is the parking situation like in Drogheda near this new club? Is there a car park? Is there on street parking, and will there be 'ample' amounts at 3 pm or so on a Friday afternoon?
