I don't know what he has but I would fold. According to the HH you have 100BB and cover almost everyone, I don't know why you thought you were short here.

If it's Tribeca, the max buyin at 25c/50c is 200 bb's

Ive seen this kind of overbet before a few times when someone had a monster (Not the way you expect to see a boat or trips played) but only when the betting was strong and they could tell that other player had a strong hand too.

I have got caught in a similar situation calling with Ak on a JJA board only too see Quads, i only called because he made a massive overbet and i couldnt see him doing that with Trips so i figured he had Ax and was trying to push me off my hand. Reverse Psychology i suppose.

Would calling here be really bad play, i would be tempted but then i dont play cash much?

I think he has A9 here..

If he had KK pre flop he would raise..

Maybe he was trying to trap with AA.. It's a hard one to call.
If i was there i would call... just to see what he had. All Depends on your bank roll and if you can afford it.

oh ok, but no one else has more than 62 anyway so it's not much of an issue.

When a rookie quarterback steps up for his first play in the American National Football League there's usually a defensive end or middle line backer just waiting to pounce and make a hit the guy won't forget. This is usually followed by a "welcome to the NFL" remark and is designed to let the fellah know he's joined the big boys. A kind of "don't step out of line buddy" warning designed to hurt more psychologically than physically.
    Just an observation.

    and I don't think it's close.

Aye that's what I did. Just wondering what the consensus on boards was.
Think it was the right move but the player in question made the same move a couple more times.

I'm not convinced that this is a clear cut fold, what is it 3-4 handed? everyone's convinced that not only do you have a 9 in the bb and two 9's come on the flop but the SB has the case 9, with a good kicker?? or maybe 77??

AA-KK may have limped preflop to set a trap, KK is practically never here with this action, and we're ahead of AA.

Nobody thinks AXs and particularily As7s is making this move? What about JJ-TT?

    What about

    96 95 94 93 92

QsJs or QsTs or JsTs or Ts8s

    what about KQ or KJ...

I don't see this as a clear fold at all, maybe it's because I'm a suspicious ba$tard, maybe it's because I'm $hit at cash games, or maybe it's just because I'd really like to know, but I'd be very tempted to call this.

Trying to get into cash games soon and trying to read as many hand histories as possible in the mean time as ive alot to learn. This hand is very intersting to me as i would be tempted to call but i know your behind to 77,KK if slowplayed and most likely behind to trip 9's as hes likely to have a better kicker.

So would i be right in thinking that an overbet like this at this level would indicate at least trip 9's and probably the full house. Would you excpect to see a flush draw or AK or AA make this bet often?

If he had Trip 9's or a boat this is terrible play because going by the responses nobodys calling this unless they have a boat themselves. If he has the flush draw or AK or AA this again is terrible play because the only player calling you is someone with Trips or a boat.

I cant help thinking this bet smells of trying to protect their hand? But what hand could they be trying to protect other than AA??

Just trying to pick the experienced players brains, everyone said fold but id like to know what range your putting them on to fold here and would this type of overbet most often represent real strength or is it more player dependant?

A gross overbet like this is very often the nuts or close to.and usually made by an idiot who'll give u his chips later anyway.
