centeral heating radiators

    i am about to replace some of my ofch rads from single to double,now are radiators only made from steel or cast iron or did i read somewhere that there are rads made of a special plastic that take half the time to heat any thoughts would help ?:

    It would pay you to get the proper size radiators .
    The highest output standard rads would be the roll top radiators ,Quinn and Myson
    Your modern rads will be a higher output and are generally smaller than old radiators.
    Give the room sizes to your supplier and tell him how many outside walls are in certain rooms.

    I've near heard of a plastic radiator.

    If your thinking of doing the job yourself make sure and do the calcs here http://www.radcalcs.com/ to size your rads. Then you can hunt around for the rad that matches your existing pipework. You might be suprised that a single convector rad might meet your needs.

    Myson and Barlo are two rads that I have seen in stock in the local plumbing merchants.

    I wouldn't use that calculator for more than one room.
    Theres not an option for the type of wall ,which can make a difference of about 1000 btus per room.Also no option for whether the walls are insulated:rolleyes:
