Classic Controller - what's the middle button thing for?

Y'know the button at the top that moves some sort of slide mechanism down inside where the slots are on the back......

Anyone know anything about this and what it's for?

I can only imagine it'll be used to clamp something onto the back of it and seeing as it was a last minute addition to the controller (as well as the other z button), I'm wondering if Ninty has something else up their sleeves.

    hmmmmm...

Basically what you said, nothing has been announced.

Though, interestingly before the final design was shown the Classic Controller was announced as a "shell" the Wii Remote would fit into.

Yep... it looks like the classic controller might be able to act in a similar way to the PS3 Sixaxis controller at some stage.

A similar thing on the WiiMote (on the bottom, two little holes).

Yeah the Wiimote is supposed to be able to slide into the classic controller to essentially make it a Sixaxis if required.

However Nintendo have never shown it working AFAIK.
