    Feel a bit stupid asking but i dont see what diffenence it makes!
    Someone enlighten me.

    Iv curved, never used straight!

    scratchy turntablisty heads all prefer the straight ones - apparently because they're shorter and hence less likely to get knocked out of place in the heat of vigorous back and forth movements...

    the straight arms have less *insert technical term here* which means that they aren't dragged to the centre of the turntable (when turntable is moving clockwise or vice versa) as much as the curved arm, meaning the needle will stay in the groove of the record better, as Tyranny said this can be a great advantage to scratch DJs. to someone doing regular mixing and not doing mad tricks, it isn't as important but still could be handy
