    Hi folks,

I have an OS map for the site that we are looking for planning permission on. My solicitor tells me that for him to draw up the contracts for the site he needs the original ma. not a copy. Where can I get an original? From the Galway Court House?

Are you buying the site or getting it transferred into your name? May be your solicitor means he needs the land Folio? You would need to get this from the Land Registry.

Its just to get a contract drawn up to say that we are buying the site subject to Planning Permission. He said that all he needed was the original of the copy I gave him.

Then ring the OS 01 8025300. You will need the map reference. There is a guy in Pheonix Park that will send out OS maps. I don't know if there is a branch in Galway.

I would have thought the land folio (which is a legal document) was sufficient for contracts, I know it was in my case a couple of years ago when I did the same thing. Every solicitor is different I suppose.

Cantac, Office supplies have branches in most major towns.
They are able to print OS maps for most areas.

The Map Store at Galway County Council County Buildings on Prospect Hill will be able to provide you with what you're looking for.

091 509152. Call first and check their opening hours (aren't 9-6 I recall)

Right. You have the numbers, call them and ask for a price.

    Locked.

The A4 composite OS extract you require should cost around €40 (A3 will cost about €65 - €70). All the map agents sell at the same price so it doesn't really matter where you buy.

If you need an exact figure email them, fax or phone.

One other thing - get 2 copies of the map as you pay the big money for 1 copy but the second one will only cost you about €2 - €5 extra depending on size - could come in useful later on especially for someone who has a plot beside you and needs a map. Nice little profit to be had at that stage
