They appear to be showing up at all the summer festivals this year. I like how Glastonbury told them no even though they asked to do it for free. Id be very surprised if they didnt play somewhere in Ireland. I start to wonder if they have to perform here every year for Tax reasons.

i saw them at a music festival last summer and they were ****e. it was my first time seeing them (hopefully the last)

i wasnt the only one to give up and walk away either iirc

Plus theres only so many times a band that big can come to Ireland before a few of us start getting a tad bored. I was dragged to see them 3 times and seeing them at Slane, Lansdowne and the Phoenix Park all seemed the one gig personally. Im sure I wasnt alone.

Why? Because I used to be a Chilli's fan until I saw them play at Landsdowne Road many moons ago. Flea, Fruciante and Chad Smith are brilliant live but that w*nkstain Antony Kedis shouldnt be allowed near a mic. The chap can't sing and has no stage presence what so ever, his lack of trying completly put me off the band.

Added to the fact that every muppet and their son is a Chilli's fan...they just dont cut the biscuit no more

    PS. Their new album sucks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 648 ✭✭✭Neo#

Well it might be true that Kiedis doesnt cut it live but Frusciante does. I could listen to that guy play guitar all day. Thats the main attraction for me to see the chilis i must say being a guitar player myself.

The problem is that not enough people in Ireland slag their brand of mid-road meaningless irrelevant music. If enough people slagged them here there wouldnt be enough demand for them to be playing Ireland once every 5 months seemingly. They were primary on the almost completely awful line up of the "Kildare music festival".

Doubt they will headline ****** as that would be 2 years in a row and they arent really an Electric Picnic act so I wouldnt worry about them being at any of the festivals. Id say they will be either Slane or a Croke Park gig. I wont be going to either as they suck donkey danglers. Even if they were at a festival its always easy to find someone else to see in one of the tents.

I agree . they could have easily made it into a 1 cd album . there is about a dozen decent songs and thats about it.
Seen them last summer and they were quite boring to be honest they did not really interact with the audience.

Snow and Tell Me Baby may as well be by boy bands. Thered be no success for the chilli peppers without John Frusciante, a fact even the band themselves have admitted in a number of interviews.

I seen them at Slane and ****** and was suprised by how bad a singer Kiedis is. But then I see the slane gig on tv and he sounds way better, did anybody else notice this ?

I agree with this. Although, unfortunately, Im in no financial position to pay €70 to hear Under the Bridge, the only song Id really be interested/bothered in. I should have gone to Sigur Ros instead. and at Phoinex, yeah well, Pixies were there

    Is this true? source?

Anyway I was half considering going to Roskilde but this wouldnt put me off. Theres bound to be somebody better playing at one of the other stages at the same time.

They should go back to playing exclusively 80s stuff.

    Sex Rap ftw!

Those of you who dont like the chilis... why do you care if they're coming to Ireland this year? Nobody's forcing you to go and see them

True, but I think the Chilis residency in Ireland just shows that people will turn up for 'the event' as opposed to the gig and lets be honest the gig they play is pretty bad. An above post commented that he'ed pay to see John Frusciante alone...thats ok but personally one man cant carry a band.

    :O

    Bjork is great!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 648 ✭✭✭Neo#

Bjork's awful! How on earth is she headling a day at coachella??

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 28,128 ✭✭✭✭Mossy Monk

    Bjork is fantastic

wouldnt class her as being headlining material though

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 532 ✭✭✭Mickolution

I'm tempted to go back to Roskilde this year (been to the last three) now that Bjork's been announced. If only a few of the rumours flying around turn out to be true I'll be there.

I reckon I'm probably the only Irish gig goer who hasn't seen the Chillis yet, but it will stay that way :)

Well, because "the Kildare festival" sold out in record time last year almost purely on the Chillis being on the bill, it meant that, seeing as all tickets were sold, MCD didnt need to make an effort to bering any decent artists. Therefore, the Chillis visit had an imapct on epople with decent taste. When I think of the times I had in Punchestown seeing Faithless, Felix Da Housecat, Darren Emerson and the legendary set from the Wu Tang Clan(all in 2004) and Snoop Dogg, the Kaisers and several others tear it down in 05, and then the cabbages and their sheep fans in 2006 its sad tbh.

Actually, the Chillis have cost me money. When I bought my ticket I thought theyd change the line up a bit, but it remained ****e, so I decided to sell my ticket. I thought it would be like previous years ticket prices, people offering 500 for a ticket. In the end it proved so hard to shift to such a bollix line up i sold it for 20 less than i bought it for in order to get rid of it in time (this was a day before it started)
