Is there a difference between rent relief and rent allowance?

I have recently moved into rented accomodation and am looking to get relief through tax credits. Is is rent relief I am looking for? is rent allowance the same as rent relief?
    Thanks

Are there any repercussions for the landlord when you apply for rent relief.

i.e why do they need to know the pps no. of the landlord.

Can landlords object to you getting rent relief?

I need to broach the subject with my landlord.

You don't actually need to broach the subject with your landlord at all- the Revenue Commissioners do not need your landlords PPS number, simply their name and the address of the accomodation that you are renting. The relief is not worth an awful lot- but you are entitled to it, and its better in your pocket than in the Revenue Commissioners......

hi, dont know if im in the right place, my bf has recently been made redundant, we are in the process of moving from a rented house to another, were do we stand can he claim rent allowance if he is claiming his stamps? does anyone know what this is?? Would it be better off to say he is moving on his own will he get more money? If its means tested i am only earning barely over minimum wage would that make a difference??
