LIGHTS GO OUT ON TONEY CHALLENGE

Samuel 'Nigerian Nightmare' Peter beat James Toney for the second time in three months in Saturday's WBC heavyweight elimination bout.
Peter secured a unanimous decision with two of the judge's scorecards reading 118-110 and the other making it 119-108.

Victory finally ends a running row between the two fighters, who disagreed over the verdict of their last fight, a controversial points decision in Peter's favour.

Once again, both boxers paraded around the ring as winners, but this time Toney could not truly have believed he had done enough.

“You saw me tonight, I taunted him,” boasted Peter. “I gave him the Muhammad Ali shuffle, and a little Floyd Mayweather too.

“You saw what I did to him. This was my best fight.”

Victory takes the Nigerian a step closer to a crack current WBC champion Oleg Maskaev.

Backing the 38-year-old onto the ropes, Peter was in control of the contest, knocking Toney down after just 20 seconds.

“I slipped, I didn't go down,” fired Toney, who had not been sent to the deck since Roy Jones Junior floored him in 1994.

“I feel I won the fight but it's all good. We'll fight another fight. This guy is supposed to be a hell of a puncher, but he couldn't knock me out.”

Heavy swelling to Toney's left eye failed to back up his defiant talk, although he did recover from the early setback to throw some good shots himself.

Peter's record now stands at 28-1 with 22 knockouts, and he will hope he now stands on the cusp of a title fight with Maskaev, with the winner set for a potential unification bout against IBF champion Wladimir Klitschko.

Toney is finnished ,he's taken more punches than ever and up at heavyweight that finally means people are starting to hurt him . His speech is also starting to slur which means he should get out and get out now because that is one of the clearest signs of brain damage .

He never should have been a heavyweight , starting as a middleweight(although he did have to drain down a lot to make weight) and being 5'10 he should never have gone past Cruiserweight .

He always had a terrible atitude and never gave other fighters respect , many American fans enjoyed his 'trash talking'/being an idiot but really it showed what a terrible personality the man has and I took great pleasure in peter out-fighting and out-boxing him .

The positive side to Toney is he was very skilled and he did give us a great fight against Vassily Jirov(a must see fight)
