I may in the future have to commute from dublin to mullingar for 6 months or so. Does anyone do this? Is it manageable?

It'll depend on a number of things. Where in Dublin you'll be leaving from, do you have a car, and what time you'll be travelling at?

I know somebody who commutes from Dublin to Kilkenny daily and they manage and KK is about 20 miles further away than Mullingar would be on a far inferior road!
The new M4 is superb to/from Mullingar should be easily done in an hour from the M50 allgoing well I'd say..

I drive through pass Mullingar every weekend when I head home from Dublin. So dont know much about commuting from there but it is a great road, you wont be long driving it. Dont know what kind of traffic you'll be encountering around Dublin though???

it shouldntbe a problem, I know someone who travels from Longford - Dublin everyday so Dublin - Mullingar shouldnt be a problem. about an hour and half's drive! :p

If you mean living in Dublin and commuting to Mullingar, I do that daily and it's managable. I leave Templeogue/Terenure at 7.40 and am in Mullingar between 8.45 and 8.55. I've only once been late having left on time and that was just before christmas when the M50 had an exceptionally bad morning.

It's a predictable 40 minutes from the N4 junction on the M50 using the M4 (€2.60 a pop). I travel in to the city centre in the evenings and during the summer it's a predictable hour, during christmas it went to 2 hours and the rest of the time it's usually between an hour and an hour and 10 minutes.

In summary it's an ok commute, but using the toll road is a must.
