I have read that in the newest newsletter of the Dutch game store Nedgame, they were told that Sony will only deliver pre-orders to the stores in Europe. So no camping in front of the nearest game shop, only the lucky guys with a pre-order will get their hands on the PS3.

"We have recently heard from Sony that they'll only deliver pre-orders to stores. There will be NO further sale in the stores. It is already sure that the demand will be higher than the supply."

Well that not a surprise to me. It makes a lot of sense to get rid of the large pre-booked customers queue. What does surprise me is that the USA and Japan didn't try this with there own stores. If they had they could have avoided things like huge queues, campers and campers injuring each other for the console. Anyways since us pre-booked customers are getting are ps3 first I'm guess a month till non pre-booked customers can get their own ps3.

Well it's been over a month now since I got the Wii on launch day, and it's still incredibly hard to get one, you can't just walk in anywhere and buy one.
It could be slightly longer than that for the people who want the PS3 and haven't pre-booked.

A date in march should be announced either tomorrow or the next day according to a few sources. It was supposed to be announced Monday or Tuesday but it got set back to the end of this week.

Are stores here taking pre-orders.....me and a friend in work have been calling every shop since last summer and have been told that they are NOT taking pre-orders.

I pre-ordered my PSP when that was coming out, i i thought it was a good idea, as stated baove it avoids ppl camping outside shops and causing caos

they're taking orders now. €100 deposit in most places, to avoid getting stock that people don't buy, and of course to avoid scalping.

Green Martin get a booking as soon as you can. Remember there still a month to go and already there is huge hype and demand for the ps3. The sooner you book the better your chances in getting a ps3 early.

The new Argos catalogue has an add on pre-ordering the PS3.

Definitely not on launch day. Argos do pre-orders but they won't get any until after a few months from the launch day. You'd be better off going to another store.

Argos would be the worst place to go for, they made a total arse of the Wii launch, I would suggest GAME Smyth's and Xtra Vision.

Gf dropped into Game on Dawson St and they are not taking any deposits but have put my name on an info list, as they are not sure how many consoles they are getting. I'm first on that list.:D
I get on well with the manager of that branch, he'll give me a ring when he gets the word from head office on how they are going about pre-orders.
He also told me he reckons they will be getting about 100 consoles in for launch.
And he continued to say that he won't be taking pre-orders from people who come in off the street any more until everyone who is on the list is rang and informed.

seems like a nice little system. xtra-vision & gamestops idea is to get as many pre-books with €100 down so they can use that as a bargaining chip with sony when it comes to allocating numbers

Jaysus only 30 names on Dawson St. list! We have 10 pages or so of people who are interested. The whole thing is redundant however cos the 1st few people who are rung first will take the pre-order slots.

I was told in work we'd be taking pre-orders this week, no day however :(

Which branch of GAME do you work in Slurms?
You also have remember that a lot of people would have had their names down on tat list for a while now since before an official price was announced, I reckon the price will scare a few people off, not me however!!:D
1st on Dawson Streets list and have three other pre-books.

I work in Blanchardstown. I dunno, anyone whose name i took didnt seem perturbed when I told them it'll be over 600 euro. But we shall see! I'm second on the list anyways :D

You were allowed to pre-order in your own store?
That surprises me, GAME don't usually allow that.
