So just taking this onto an separate thread, I would like to know a bit more about the process of spinning 1k up to 20k+ in a few days. So Pillow, Flipper or LuckyLloyd, could you enlighten me, it definitely sounds like fun... Cheers.

Oops think I got you confused with luckylucky, so many luckys round here. :D

I know what you mean 5star, if I could turn 1k into 20k, I'd say goodbye to the day job and travel the world, popping in and out of random internet cafe's to top up along the way...

Still I presume what they meant was playing fast and loose with the 1k, and hope for the best, losing it every now and then as an acceptable risk for a great return when you do get it?

Well if you put 1k on a number on roulette and it comes up you will win 35K

So just pick the right number and your all set

    Hey, I did that before!

To answer your question, I think you have to forget everything you ever learnt about bankroll management. My personal favourite way of doing it is intentionally playing huge pots in omaha (the opposite of what you should normally do) and hope to click in a few of them.

My best ever spin up session went like this: Fridayof the fisr, deposited $600 in pokerstars. Jumped into the 5/10 PLO(I remember Padraig was at the table at the time) and ran it up to $3,500. As soon as I did that, I jumped into the 25/50 PLO and within an hour (and winning about 20 coin tosses in a row, I played the biggest ever pot (at that time) $18,500 with top set against a wrap. I won. Did the same again for the following two days - this time I'd buy in for $2,000 ($5k cap) and try to spin it up. By Sunday evening (and a HU session with Mafews) my balance was almost $78,000. The following day, my account was locked by Stars ("under investigation" - because someone reported me and my uncle playing the 30/60 Razz game at the same time and I didn't get my money back for a week. This was the best thing that ever happened to me (as it but me off balance) and I actually withdrew the lot.

This isn't a brag post but merely a demonstration that if I can do it, anyone can. I think the trick is to be totally fearless and forget about the money while you're playing. If you start thinking about what these obsene amounts of money will buy and think of it more like a video game - try and beat your highest score!

its like the martingale system, sounds attractive but is a red herring if you are a serious player

Jesus Flipper thats insane, fair play tya!

I did something similar with a free 20 from party while locked one night. into .10/.25... wait for a nice pp/high SC/Axs and shove the lot in asap before anyone on table gets read on you, and prey for a call & some outs...

I was amazed at how many calls I got... repeat for .25/.50, .50/1, 1/2, 2/4, won coin flips all the way got upto 420 before I blew the lot. Good craic though. Shoulda cashed out.

Hector just read about the Martingale system, I had heard of it before just didn't know the name... you need a big bankroll for, it as the cost increase exponentially. I wonder how it is altered, if instead of coin flips you take 60/40+ only shots with it.

Anyway I think this thread is turning into a degenerate gambl0r thread rather than a poker one.

I suppose it should be said that this kind of "poker" should come with a disclaimer. It must also be said that I've probably blown $600 a load of times trying to do this. That's the flipside.

Finally, you're right - this isn't poker. It's roulette with a TINY edge!

I don't think i'm as extreme as Flipper's approach, I think it's important to be comfortable with the game your playing, in my recent run I was buying in short in 10/20 and I felt quite comfortable doing this and just hit a savage run.
Taking into account money I've bagged before but wife has tucked away in joint account I was very adequately bankrolled for this, though with purely money to hand I wasn't I'll admit, now I am again and famous last words maybe but I don't intend getting out of line bankroll wise again. For one thing I'm no longer that confident in hold em (which was where most of my horrendous day occured :( ), due to playing it less frequently and I think the standard is rising, so my shot days at 10/20 never mind 20/40 hopefully are over, if I ever do play these again it will be with the roll for em.

On the flip side Tbh though like flipper I would be bored grinding it out at lower stakes, $50 pots mean nothing to me, that's not me being arrogant or anything it's just what you get used to.

Basically I guess my thinking is to be strict with your bankroll when you give a toss. However if I went el busto tomorrow, heaven forbid, I'm not going to grind it out at .25/.5. I just wouldn't care about the money involved. This is no doubt offensive to the bankroll purists, but I'm not a machine, the sums of money involved got to mean something to me if I'm going to play the game.
