    It's easy if you can speak French :p

    Click here

    Now you need to choose the type of cared you want, if you'd like to pay online and then fill in your name and address and they'll send it to you.

    When asked for the card on the train you'll need something to prove that you are under 25.

    I don't think the card works on the metro (which is run by a different company).

    Yep you can get the card at any station. And you will need a passport or something like that to prove that you are under 25.

    I don't understand. You need the 16-25 card on the train to prove that you have it and ID to prove your age. You don't always need ID to get the actual card (as you can see on the website).

    You can get it in any SNCF (train) station in Paris and in the SNCF ticket offices but only a few metro stations, which as I said are run by a different company.

    Paris has six big stations:

    * Gare Saint - Lazare
    * Gare Montparnasse
    * Gare du Nord
    * Gare de l'Est
    * Gare de Lyon
    * Gare d'Austerlitz

    and for the TGV's is reservation always necessary or can you just get one on the spot if there are seats available?

    thanking you

    Yep, the metros will have their own different systems.

    You can get a place on the TGV if there are spots left right up until the time it leaves. Be careful though, during the really busy periods they limit the number of places for 12-25 card holders so unless you get in there early you may only end up with 25% discount. Reservations open 2 months in advance IIRC.

    Here's a good guide on booking train tickets in France :

    http://www.tripadvisor.com/Travel-g187147-c3019/Paris:France:Booking.On.Sncf.html

    The RATP (Paris metro) junior tickets only work on weekends and bank holidays.
    It's only €10 or so for a book of 10 tickets so don't worry about it being too expensive in Paris.

    Have you tried booking the trip through CIE. I did it 2 years ago for my daughter and found them very helpful and competitive prices.

    AFAIK, CIE won't accept the 12-25 card.
