I normally look down on these mathematical calculations as utter bollix (such as the one that came up with the forumla for the perfect joke, or the perfect free kick in football, or god knows what else professors paid by our taxes came up with) but this one is quite interesting

    Arnall’s so-called formula looks like this: [W + (D-d)] x TQM x NA.

All of the letters and symbols apparently represent a sort of mathematical code to track the following:

W: How bad the weather is at this time of year.

D: Amount of debt accumulated over the holidays minus how much is paid off.

T: The time since the holidays.

Q: Amount of time passed since New Year’s resolutions have gone south.

    M: Our general motivation levels.

NA: The need to take action.

Well, the weather was feckin freezing, it seems years since Christmas/NYE, Im knackered, and I violated my "no drinking in January" vow 5 days in (though it was 5 more before I actually got drunk, which Ive done several times since, but I had a great time and realised my health and mental wellbeing isnt worth the false sense of calm and peace sobriety gives :) )

The debt is grand though, I got a large tax payout. Back of the net :)

Arnall screwed up. I'm bollixed tired but I'm far from broke and I've gotten my first good dose of sunshine in weeks.

Does it count as sunshine when it's freezing?

i think my depression is more to do with the spectacular mess i made of an exam today than weather combined with money combined with whatever.

either way, wish this day would hurry up and end..

Fed up listening to this bollocks on the radio all day....financially I'm doing grand, the weather is nice and fresh and there's a great stretch in the evenings, christmas is well over (thank f*ck), NY's resolutions? pfft, if I'm about to do something life-changing I don't wait for an excuse like a change in the calendar to spur me on.

If I was the sort of idiot who maxxed all my credit cards on christmas crap I don't need and had a hefty mortgage to keep up with, had the kind of poxy job that only pays once a month and subscribed to social "norms" such as NY's resolutions and had a mild case of SAD, then I might well be at a low point today....fortunately I'm not.
The only thing that depressed me today was how sh*te the radio stations are, when all any of them could think of to broadcast was the crappy survey/formula/study...

Today would be an ideal day to close all public houses and give the staff a day off.

Weather is generally crap, lots of people are broke and wouldn't feel like going to the pub.

Far better than closing them on Good Friday - which is the Friday of a bank holiday weekend.

If every element is assigned a value from 0-10 then not having made a new years resolution (Q=0) wipes out the values of T and M.

    Being less pedantic... I got (3+(0-0))x8x1= 24
Which is quite high for someone ina good mood:-)

Edit: wait how can your general motivational levels and your failed resolutions both be positive figures?

I am off work this week, going on holidays on Wednesday, getting paid on Thursday, and then going on holidays again Saturday week. So not too depressed. :)

If this is the most depressing day of the year then im going to have a great 07.

Sure it was cold but that was about the only bad thing on an otherwise good day.:)
