    Hi all,

I usually post in the Poker forum but this is my first post here.

I have a long wheel base, high roof mercedes sprinter. I'm consiering converting it into a camper van. I realise the amount of money you could spend on this is unlimited. I also realise this is no small task. I'm wondering is there a "conversion kit" available that you can buy for this? I'm talking about one big box with all you need and the instructions to go with it.

If not, does anyone here know of any website that shows full list of items needed and dimentions of all woodwork required etc.?

    Any help much apreciated.

    VN

AFAIK Reimo http://www.reimo.co.uk/ do a kit, but I'm not sure whether it is available in LWB as well.

Several times during my camping "career" I did think about converting vans myself, even bought books and "how to" information on the subject and ...in the end ...decided against it and bought the finished article.

Problem is that you have to put in wiring, gas and water installations first, before you even put insulation and floors, walls, etc into it.

So you need to know EXACTLY where everything is going to be before you even start, which ...when you're doing your first conversion, can be a bit of an uncertainty.

So, I basically chickened out :D and bought the second hand fruit of other people's hard work.

I have seen some pretty good van conversions done by Irish craftsmen, but I can't remember right now who exactly they were or where to find them.

    Edit:

Here's a crowd from "across the water", they don't seem to offer kits for the sprinter though, just other makes but might be worth asking anyway.

    Hi Vegas Nights

I've come across something new. The information on the (German only, unfortunately:( ) website is somewhat sketchy, but apparently these guys build furniture modules which you then "clip" into their patented rail system.

Once the rails are fitted, you can convert your transporter into a camper within minutes, apparently.

    see here: http://www.flexebu.de/framework.php?cat=system&page=start&lang=_at

On their Konfigurator, there are different variants available for the different roof and wheelbase models.
Here's an example for a LWB Sprinter with high roof, cost for the whole package: 5.5 k
http://www.flexebu.de/framework.php?cat=modelle&page=mb2&lang=_at&modell=11 check "langer Radstand" and "205 44H" to view the model I'm talking about.

Problem is ...seems to be very basic. Even on the big LWB model you only get a lot of furniture and a sink, but no cooker, no fridge, never mind toilet or shower. Guess they found it a bit difficult to integrate plumbing and wiring into their flexible system :D
