Connecting to a TV with no VGA input

I've got a decent but old fashioned non flat panel TV - it's a Loewe Xelos 28"... i think it's excellent and am reluctant to get rid of it but would like to connect a HTPC to it if possible.

    What are my options.

    - Graphics card with TV out connection on the HTPC to connect to the s-video (?) connection in the TV
    - VGA to Scart converter - if such a thing exists (The TV does support RGB scart input)

Will either or both of the above work ... would they involve excessive "messing around" with screen resolutions etc.

Ideally I'd like to have my HTPC also have output to a monitor for general PC usage - how practical would this be if also trying to connect to a CRT TV ? - Something like connecting the normal graphics card output to Monitor and the TV-out connection to the TV. Would I end up having to change the resolution / refresh rate all the time to get it to work on the TV after using the monitor and vice versa ?

Both will work with a minimum of fiddling though in some cases the picture quality can vary so if you are not pleased with it don't be too surprised.

S-video is the easiest method to connect to the TV if your TV has an s-video input.

As for VGA to scart if you want minimum of fuss get this box o tricks it will turn the VGA signal into a scart RGB one allowing up to a maximum of 1280x1024 resolution.

A third option exists in the form of component video but it is unlikely your TV has it but if it does then you can acquire VGA to component adapters as well.

You can continue to use your monitor alongside the TV though depending on how it is setup for instance if you used clone display mode both displays would need to be running the same resolution*.

    * I'm not totally sure this is still the case, have not experimented with this too much to verify but I thought I heard something about independent resolution support from either ATI or NVIDIA in this area.
