Holiday to Crete - advice/recommendations?

    Planning on booking a holiday for myself and 6 other lads (21-24) for the summer sometime at the start of august. So I'm just looking to see if what we've been told is true about Crete as it sounds amazing.
    What we're basically looking for is a proper lads holiday where we can have the craic.

    So does anyone have any experience or hearsay about Crete itself and where the best place to stay is?

    Crete is great!! i went in august with 1 girl and 5 fellas!! was best holiday ever!! we stayed in koutoulafari.... a taxi away from the main strip og hersonisiss! didnt bother us, taxi was about 10 i think. split that so.... there were restaraunts near us too and a sports bar for all the footie.... i was looking to go back, theres the acroplois apartments just off teh main strip which are quite nice too. i stayed in the dream apartments! quite nice, 24 hr bar. the strip stays open till half 6 or 7! but theres other places ya can go, just follow all the workers :)

    iv been to crete 2wice before and all i can say is dat its definetly a lads holiday...out evry nite drink urself to oblivion and pull some chick...
    if dats wat ur after i would recommend it...i loved it wen i was der..
    By day u should def go to stalis beach cause its unreal and its the best for watersports aswell...also theres some good restaurants up that way...

    I stayed in piskopiano about 15 min from hersonisos...we used walk in at night and get a taxi home for a few euro...if u are goin id say u should book it as soon as possible cause crete sells out fast! (with budget travel neway)!

    wow that sounds great. me and my girlfriends go there every summer to get a peter pan (TAN) and OH MY GOD its like SO amazing. Check out the beaches they are like OH MY GOD. Stay away from the septics (tanks = yanks ) thay are like so annoying. maybe we will see you there and like porty!! yaeah baby yeah
