Calls but doesnt ask me out

Met this guy last week, hes called and texted me a few times but it doesnt seem to be going anywhere. All we do is chat about menial stuff. He's not asked me out yet, and befor eyou say why dont you ask him out, i just can't! Old fashioned i supose...what does this mean? is he interested
