Ok, so I want to go to the Leinster quarter final, and it looks most likely to be in England. Im just open to suggestions about the cheapest way there. Im currently looking all over airlines (ie. Ryanair/Aer lingus), have checked Eurolines buses and ships. The closest I came to anything was flights to Manchester for €1 each way with AL, but after everything was added on, it was €140:eek: . So is there any suggestions about how may be a good way to get there? Any other airlines?

*so far, the possible location is Leicster for the match aswell.

Irish ferries to Holyhead do a good deal if you will be away less than 3 days. The train at the other end would be a bit of a nightmare though.

The other option is to get the train/bus to Belfast. Flybe from City and Easyjet from International fly to loads of English airports, and they CAN  be really cheap if you book far enough in advance.

By sea and rail via Holyhead to anywhere in Britian is approx €80 return, less for Liverpool or Chester.

There are not many sailings now though and to get to most places for an afternoon match would mean getting the overnight (8.45pm) ferry from Dublin.

For Leicester the best options would be:
East Midlands airport, 1 hour by bus, 1 bus per hour, not sure about bus fare but I would guess less than £10 return.
Luton airport, 1 hour by train, 1 direct and one connecting train per hour, £28 return.
Birmingham airport, 1h20 by connecting train, 2 trains per hour, £8.50 return.

Manchester Airport to Leicester would be nearly 3 hours by train.

http://nationalrail.co.uk/ for train times and fares.

Like the previous poster said, book airline tickets as early as possible, if there is a popular sporting event on then the cheap seats will go very quickly.

Via Belfast is not a bad idea if you are stuck, there are hourly buses from Dublin 5am-9pm and every 2 hours from 9pm-5am in both directions. Both Airports have a frequent bus from Belfast and Belfast City airport has a frequent train service.

Well, things have changed and they are playing Leinster, so it looks as if we'll be getting the bus. That'll be handy enough, but just gonna wait until get match tickets first now. Thanks for the advice though people, shall come in handy enough again sometime Im sure
