Probably a good time to ask this now.

How do you accurately measure snow depth especially in windy conditions?

Is there a scientificly recommended way of doing it to give accurate measurements? Just dropping a ruler in any old place is probably not the best way!!

I've never heard of any other way of doing it other than with a ruler(or a metrestick in your case;))I suppose if it's windy just try and stay away from the drifts to get what the level snow is and then do a seperate reading for drifts or something like that

Use a ruler on a flat surface like a patio or concrete.Grass wont give you an accurate measurement as snow settles on top of the grass.
