Has anyone downloaded R-Type on the Virtual Console?

I'm just wondering how well it stands up against the original arcade version on MAME ?

Is it Super R-Type? As in the Snes game? If so, it's a great game. :)

(deadlock ey? I was just sorting all my 2000ads ;))

It's the TurboGrafx version of the game

If you're old enough to remember the eighties, this was the best reproduction of the arcade experience. By far. The graphics were *slightly* more crude than the origial, but it flowed better than any other version. Well worth a few Wii points.

I remember them well, but never had a TurboGrafx !!!

I did play it in the arcades, and I have also played it since on MAME - sounds like a good investment :)

It's a very good version... although it seems harder than I remember... I don't remember the arcade version giving me as much trouble... maybe I've just gone soft.

(Oh and Joe Pineapples was cool too!)
