My iPod has gone loco....

    Hey all!

Ive been the owner of a 60GB iPod for nigh on 9 months now and has given me no trouble whatsoever. However, about 2 weeks ago it started playing up on me. I had received an iPod docking station for Christmas and was delighted as it could charge and play my songs on its speakers but if I took it off the docking port and would go out for a walk with the iPod in my ears the iPod would cease to respond, as in blank screen no nothing. I then took it home, placed it on the docking port and the apple logo would show up then disappear, show up then disappear.

After about a half hour the main screen would eventually show up (Music, Photos, Videos etc). The backlight would come on and the blue light that indicates your selection (Music, Photos, Videos etc) will start running up and down the screen rapidly. Its almost as though Im selecting something without using the wheel!

The iPod works for about 30mins 'charging' on the docking port. When I then try to turn off the iPod 'Charged' remains on the screen with the backlight and the battery logo on the screen. It will remain like this until I put it back on the docking port and the process begins over again. At the moment the iPod is connected to the laptop but is not showing in iTunes nor is the battery charging even though it says so on the iPod screen. 'Do Not Disconnect' doesnt even appear either. Granted a new version of iTunes was installed over the Christmas but it was working fine for me on Christmas Day but since the malarchy that Ive explained above, it doesnt show on iTunes.

    Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

    Thanks

    Rockee. :)

    Your Battery is ****ed

Probably having it on the docking station continually charging.

You could try resetting the ipod might fix it for a while but the battery will probably have to be replaced.

    1. Toggle hold button to hold then off.
    2. Hold Menu and Select until power off and then apple logo appears

You might have to do that twice

If you've only had it for 9 months, then it's still under warranty.

Contact Mactivate, they are an Apple Service Provider. 01 822 4488.
They are in Northwest Business Park in Blanch.

The ear phone jack on my ipod packed in in before christmas. Id had the ipod 11 months, but as it was still under warranty they took it off me and said i would get a replacement. The replacement was there the next day! They charge 15euro admin charge. Not bad for a new ipod!

Only thing is you'll have to load your songs back onto the new ipod. Took about 2 hours for mine, but still it's worth it.

If you went directly through apple.ie it wouldnt have cost you a penny. They pick it up from your door and usually have it back to you within a week.
