Is A Baritone Guitar Easier To Play Than A Normal Guitar?

I am a bass player who some day wants to use the guitar more for writing music but whenever I play the guitar I find I am always muting stings, I dont have fat fingers and I know with alot more practice I'd be fine but I just want to know is it easier to play a Baritone, I hear the strings are bigger and there is more space between them.

Baritone guitars have an extended scale lenth, but I believe the string spacing is the same. It won't be any easier for you, if you've got trouble muting, then just practice muting more, an extended scale isn't going to do anything for you.

From the few that I've picked up, the extra bulk on the strings would prevent shredding. Chording might require a little more finger strength too, as at least 3 of the strings are very bass-like (or perhaps similar to Zakk Wylde's Ernie Ball set, with a 70 on the bottom!).

There are probably newer-style baritones that use lighter strings however...maybe like the Steinberger Transcale.

None of this makes the baritone easier, of course, and possibly a bit harder.

EDIT: Ooops! Scratch that....after seeing your other post, I realized that I'd been picking up Bass VI's.....totally different animal. Scratch that! Pretend I was never here! :)
