I want to put a number of printer shares on a network machine for more that 10 users. Do I need a server OS for this considering the 10-connection limit in Windows client OS?

read the EULA that came with whatever version of window you want to use term and conditions changed a lot

IIRC some were 10 concurrent users which is fine if not everyone is printing at the same time, home or something was as low as 5
    ebay for secondhand server licenses
or use a jetdirect box or similar device so computers can print directly to an IP port
or use a OS with no limits
    or buy a second printer

or if it's a half decent printer buy a network card for it,=

Thanks Capt'n. It's 2k Pro so yep, the limit is 10 concurrent. It's a network so I can IP print but it's sharing I want. I have 9 network printers. The shares will be mapped by script so was wondering what will happen when script no. 11 runs. So, what you are saying is that I can map as many shares as I like as long as not more that 10 users are printing at the same time. Cool, I'll give that a go then.
