I have a MP3 player and loads of music on my hard-drive, but there not mp3 files. I know you can fit more music on a mp3 player if you convert the files to mp3 files. I did a search on google but not not found any plus not sure which would be best.

Anyone recommend free software which will be able to convert files to mp3?

    thks

Audacity might work for you, its free here. I use Audio Catalyst, but it ain't free. What are you trying to convert to MP3? Just wave files or other media?

Whether or not you will be able to fit more files on your player will depend on a number of things, like what format they are already in, and what bitrate they are created in. You will likely also lose some audio quality in the transcoding process.

What are you trying to convert from?

I'm not 100% sure, i think there wave files. I just downloaded music of a website for free and drag and drop. The mp3 player i half is only 512MB and i had 96 songs on it before, now i only have 62at most

What is the extension of the files. 512Mb / 62 = roughly 8 Meg, a wav file is usually aound 30-40 Meg, AFAIR.
