Played this hand a few weeks ago - still chippin away at me - so all comments welcome. details are a little bit hazy. villian in this hand is scrappyt - he has circa 1700 infront I have 1800 and few other stacks of +1k at table. I have been playing pretty tight and have shown down pretty much nuts.

I am on button with Ad jsks10h pot is opened by scrappyt with a raise to 35, 3 callers including me (playing 6 handed). pot is 150ish.

Flop 5d 10d Jd. (not sure if this is exactly accurate but - 3 diamond board no str8 flush possible). Checked to me I bet pot - villian calls.

turn 3s checked to me I bet pot 450 scrappy thinks and calls.

river 2d (very bad card for me as increases chances i'm playin the lone ace and makes it easier for him to justify a call - but with the pot size of 1300 I don't think I can give up on it so I pot it again). villian thinks - almost times out before calling with the q high flush.

Thoughts on play? I reckon 80% of time I will show the nut flush there - honestly think that the 4th diamond on the river was the killer and that perhaps i should have given up. but as i said i had been tight and I only need him to fold 50 % of time for this to be profitable.

looks fine to me, how often do you bet the pot on the flop with the nuts?

Also, would you always pot the river with the nuts or would you bet less?

well you should certainly do this sometimes, if he thinks you are tight and you would play the nuts like this this looks like as good a time as any.

His call on the flop will often be a set but the call on the turn is pretty much a sign that he's calling the river regardless of what you do.

Pulling this move off requires all factors to be right - both your table image (as Roundtower said) and the type of player you're up against. Against a rock, he will NEVER call without the nuts on the turn but you'll also come across players who believe "a flush is a flush" and call with any two diamonds! The last diamond doesn't help matters but as I said, if he calls the turn, he has already mentally committed to the pot. BTW, I've played with that ScrappyT guy and he's not a bad player.

I posted a question similiar to this a few months back about a hand I played in the fitz... Don't know what the link is for it but if someone does, they may post it here.

I think you played it fine. It may depend on your history vs this player as to whether you usually bet less than the pot with the actual nuts

I vaguely remember that. I think the woman's name in the hand was mentioned in the thread so searching for that will probably find it. I can't remember her name.

Thanks for replies. when hit nuts in raised pot like that I will pot it 90% of time esp w 4 players. generally pot with nuts on river too as people like to call w underhouses etc.

yeah its defo one to note for future keep pushin nuts against him. Don't really feel he was that commited by calling turn flipper. he still had +1k infront and often bluffs semi bluffs will check behind him on river there (reckon he was close to foldin and perhaps the last diamond swayed it towards the call)
