Hi do you know if you use a gamecube game in the wii do you need a gamecube controller or can you just use the wii remote?
Also can you save the game to the wii memory or do you need a memort card?

You need a Gamecube controller and Memory Card for the Wii if you want to play your Gamecube games.

Thats a pain. I just wanted to try Mario sunshine but the cost of the extra controller and memory will make it expensive. When PS2 came out you had to use the ps1 memory card but atleast you could use the same controllers. Nintendo need to get some more games or will be getting the ps3 in March.:(

That's quite different though, the Wii controller is very very different from a GC controller. A GC controller has 2 thumbsticks for one, it can't use the pointer from the Wiimote out of nowhere, it isn't designed to.

And in fairness, if you get a PS3 in March, you'll probably have a bit of a game drought with that too.

ye ps3 games when they come out wont be that good this is happening to the wii and has happened to the 360 they dont want to show off the full potential of all there ideas on launch i am going to wait till next year when all the best games will be out on ps3...the 360 has now revealed most of its capabilities with the launch of gears of war and soon to be crackdown and also a grand theft auto should be good

Where on that page does it say that the classic controller will do GC games?

The Classic Controller cannot be used to play games for the Nintendo GameCube. According to the Nintendo Online Shop, the Classic Controller can only be used with Virtual Console games (although some games, such as Dragon Ball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 2 can be played with the classic controller). It should also be noted that the GameCube controller can be used instead of the Classic Controller for playing most Virtual Console games.

    So no, it doesn't work.

I can confirm that the classic controller will not work on gamecube games. I got my first gamecube game on Saturday and tried it. So now I have to wait untill my controller and memory card turn up from ebay. Oh and I picked up Marion sunshine and starfox both for less than 10euro while I was at it. This source of cheep games could keep me amused until we get some good titles for the Wii.:D
Anyone got any recomendations for gamecube games?

Slighly OT but I picked up a 2nd set of bongos with Jungle Beat (I have Donky Conga) in an Xtra Vision for €9.98, so there are def deals to be had on GC hardware and software.

Worth while picking up a GC controller anyway more than a classic one, because of the fact that it can be used with most VC games, and is needed with GC games. Mario sunshine isn't great to be honest, I have it and never really bothered with it. But a week ago I downloaded Mario 64 for a tener, and by gum that is a class game in comparison! Very addictive and nice controls.

I kinda wish I didn't actually have a GameCube (well it's my brothers) because I gain nothing from the compatability of GC discs on the Wii...

Agreed, I remember mario64 from the first time round. Downloaded it last week and its still as good as I remembered. I am disapointed to here that Mario sunshine isnt as good, it got great ratings on IGN? I never paid any interest to the gamecub, always thought it was the console for kids. What good platformers came out for the cube then?

Quick question. Are the gamecube games region locked ?

Don't be fooled, Mario Sunshine is a very good game. It just doesn't quite as good to play as Mario 64 did. But it is still miles ahead of other platformers. Especially the levels where you are without the "fludd" and have to rely on pure platforming skills across crazy platforms.

I'll be honest, and say that I'm not the biggest fan of platform games, but Mario is the exception. So I may not be the best judge of sunshine. But my friend who owns an N64 said the same when he played mine, and he is a platform game fan!
I'll give it a second chance one of these days and see though, now that I'm back in the Mario swing of things thanks to 64!

Seconded. I enjoyed the hell out of Mario Sunshine.
