E85 and other Biofuels in France

    Hi All,

As ye all know (or I hope ye do anyway) the Rugby World Cup is on in France this coming September and October. My plan is to get a vehicle of some sort and trip around watching mainly the Irish games but getting in a few others along the way.

My question for ye guys is two fold:

    1. Does anyone know of any place that I can get a cheap van, (intention of camping everywhere, and sleeping in Van in the cities) that I can convert to use some form of biofuel. (or buy one pre converted)

    2. Are biofuels commonly available in France. I was looking at a recent article (googled it) and they are saying that Jan 07 the govt are starting to encourage the sales of E85 (85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) but only expect to have them in about 4% of the countries fuel stations by 2010.

I'm looking for suggestions and ideas as how best to go about this.

Also if anyone wants to join me they are more than welcome. An autumn in france culminating with an Irish victory over the French on 20th October would be the best spent 6 weeks of anyones life.

    Thanks for reading.

Note to moderators: I considered putting this in the motors section but it seems like the good folks here would be more interested and more informed.

Don't know about Ethanol, but all French diesel is mixed with 5% biodiesel, has been for years. They call it "Diester" I think.
