    Hi,
Ive watched PI and Irreversible in the last while among many other less well known films. Im also in the process of getting Christiane F and The panic in needle park. I quite bored now of action films et cetera and the usual stuff thats coming out. Its only occasionally I come cross something more mainstream that I like such as Fear and loathing in las vegas, the big lebowski, training day et cetera.

I love watching films but I haven't got a good supply! Surely theres hundreds of cool films out there that I just don't know about ot hear about. Is there a good underground/non-mainstream forum or anything for this?

    Cheers.

Not too sure about the forum foe underground film.. But a film I always recommend is Dark Days.. A documentary. Probably the most "underground" of films in more ways than one.

If you're into films from the far east, then I cannot recommend this place enough: www.kfccinema.com

    Decent reviews section too.

If you're into horror then you can't go wrong with the forums here: www.zombiekeeper.com but it's a pity the reviews haven't been updated in over a year.

I'd say a lot of people on these here forums would give you plenty of suggestions aswell.

Primer - Great underground sci-fi flick

The very mention of that sends my brain into spasams. I appreciate the film, but Id be lying if I said I understood any of it, even after trying to follow the Wikipedia description of the film Strong Spoilers by the way
And the Station Agent isnt too bad. Not as good as many would have you believe, but a good lazy watch. Nothing unique or special about it though.

    Network
    North by Northwest
    12 Angry Men
The Treasure of the Sierra Madre

As far as non-mainstream stuff goes, there are already some great recommendations in this thread, I would recommend (or second):
    Oldboy - Park Chan Wook
Dead Man's Shoes - Shane Meadows
Requiem for a Dream - Darren Arronofsky
    Naked - Mike Leigh
Secrets and Lies - Mike Leigh
Le Gout des Autres - Agnes Jaoui
    Caché - Haneke
    Funny Games - Haneke
    Battle Royale - Takeshi Kitano
Summer of Sam - Spike Lee
The 25th Hour - Spike Lee
    Talk to Her - almodovar
Punch Drunk Love - P.T. Anderson
Grave of the Fireflies - japanese animation, not sure if its Ghibli

Mysterious Skin - Gregg Araki (not for the easily offended)
    The Return - Andrei Zvyagintsev
    Naked - Mike Leigh

Battle Royale is directed by Kinji Fukasaku, Kitano only had an acting role. Grave Of The Fireflies is a Ghibli film, directed by Isao Takahata.

What century are you living in that those films are "recent-ish"?

The last century was pretty recent...

If people start saying "That is so 7 years ago!" I'm going to feel very old and start hating youngsters more than I already do! AND I'M ONLY 23!

Ah, in my baffled state, I mistakenly said century instead of decade, so let me try that again:

I'm going to assume paddycorry didn't mean to write "recent-ish".

Network being the newest of those films having been released in 1976. (I'd consider 30 years to be old at this stage.)
