    Hey,

Anybody out there with an Inspiron 6400 and a 9 cell battery. Can you tell me does the battery fit comfortably on your laptop. If i push mine from the bottom it makes a kinda crunching noise and also if i lay my hand on the area for the right hand to rest(beside the mouse pad below the keypad on top of the laptop) I also get a similiar plastic on plastic sound coming from the battery area. It appears that the battery doesn't really "lock in" properly. Can anyone confirm this on their machine as I've just received mine from the outlet store and want to find out is it just the model problem or have i got a dodgy chasis.

Also and it may just be me being over critical but does anyone else out there with a 6400 find a constant high pitched noise coming from the left hand side of the laptop. I am aware of general proccesor noise but this is slightly different-constant and very high pitched.

Heres the spec if makes a diference:

    Components
    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2.0 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache, 667 MHz FSB)
Genuine Windows® XP Media Center Edition 2005 (incl Operating System Re-Install CD) - English
Collect & Return, 1 Year Service only
    15.4" Wide Screen WXGA (1280 x 800) Display with TrueLife™
    2048MB 667MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM (2x1024)
    120GB (5,400rpm) Hard Drive
Fixed Internal 8X DVD+/-RW with Software
    256MB ATI® Mobility™ Radeon® X1400 HyperMemory™ graphics card
9 Cell, 85Whr Lithium Ion Primary Battery
    Accessories
Intel® Pro Wireless 3945 802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Wireless LAN Card for Core 2 Duo Processors
Dell™ Wireless 350 Bluetooth 2.0 Module (up to 3Mbps) with Enhanced Data
    English - Adobe Reader 8.5.8
    65W AC Adapter
    56.6k V.92 Capable Internal Modem & Adapter

Which leads me to the other question anyone dealt with the repairs/replacements regarding models from the outlet store????

I find mine quiet enough, When the cpu fan kicks in, I can hear it running but it's not noisy or high pitched, thats on the left side. I have the 6 cell battery, casing same size as 9 cell, when I press just to the right of the mouse pad there's a bit of a noise(clicky noise), i think it's just the plastic in the battery compartment just above the battery in that area is very thin(like the plastic of a yogurt carton), my battery fit's like it should though, don't need to force it in or anything. Also noticed for the first time today that the battery has a little led meter on it.

The support/repair service should be the exact same as normal for normal dell machines as far as I know
