Dealer calling clock

In an unnamed casino yesterday, I was heads up against a guy after the flop. I had kh and a 9. The latter is unimortant. Anyway, there was very little betting in this particular hand, with an unusual raise pf that was called by a couple of players and myself.

The flop was raggy, with all undercards but two hearts. Turn came a heart again and the other guy checked.

So with 3 hearts on the board I took a stab at the pot and bet out 10, he calls.

River is another undercard, no heart.

At this point I was putting him on a high heart, and had missed the flush like me. That or a non heart ace.

Didn't think he had an ace though, as I felt he would have bet out on the turn trying to take the pot like I did. So again, I bet out. 15 this time. He cr me and raises to 30.

Now I'm thinking whether I call or not.. I'm there for about what I remember as being max 2-3 mins. And the dealer calls clock.

To me this seemed unfair, and none of the other player's seemed to mind. Now although it's good for the casino and the dealer to deal as many hands as possible, I felt I deserved more time here. I believe I'm fair with my tips, and had given him 5e earlier from an 80e pot. So this sort of did come as a shock.

To some, the answer may be easy, but to me I wanted some time and was dissapointed with the clock being called, and it was also my first time to have that happen.

I mucked, and he showed a black ace, so it turned out to be the right decision.

And by the way, I've always found this dealer to be good at what he does, so I'm not bearing any grudges or anything here.

Meh, think of my moan as you will...

    ish.

Are u sure it wasn't one of the players that called clock? Dealers can't call clock on a player of their own accord.

The word's came out of his mouth.. Whether he was repeating what another player said I don't know, but all I heard was him saying it.

I assume this unnamed casino is the Fitz since you said you were playing the DC yesterday. The Fitz dealers would never do this unless a player had called it.

If this was the fitz, then it wasn't the dealer that called clock

3 Minutes for a 15 euro decision is it any wonder they called clock on you.But the dealer cannot call it on you lest he was prompted by one of the seated players.

It would have been a €90+ takedown for the winner, which was considerable enough the way play was going.

I have seen dealers call clock, including a dealer who did this in the fitz before.

I agree, people write things like "he thought for 2 minutes" or 5 minutes or however long. Does anyone realise just how long that is? 3 minutes is a huge amount of time for a 1500 euro decision, never mind a 15 euro one.

Whats with all the responses to this guys post....

    Fair question...

A dealer is not allowed to personally call clock on a player afaik.

A dealer can only call clock once a player has requested it, and given the request is reasonable.

I think my stack justified entertaining the idea of calling. I lost about 4/5's of my stack in the 10 mins preceding this, and had €30 left. As I didn't have the money to buy back in, I was in a pretty poor position.

Which is why I thought about for a couple of minutes.

If you think that was a bad call, there was a guy on the FT of the Aussie Millions last year who called an all-in with ace high versus 66 (on five last night).

So I'd appreciate if you lay off calling me a bad player for thinking about calling.

Then YOU have the option of calling clock.

    The dealer, however, doesnt.

    DeV.

Had i been at the table and known what cards you had and the time you took to make that decision... let's just say i would not be happy with you.

But to answer your question...no the dealer is not allowed to call clock.

But he obviously had a read on you and correctly did :)
