memory card hassle...

    Casio exilim ex-s600D
    Sandisk 2.0gb SD

it all began a few days ago...

had about 300 pictures/video on the card from a trip to barcelona, and on the last night - BANG - all vanished.

was pretty mad  figured i must have left the power on and pressed a few buttons by accident whilst in my pocket (not like me though).

i knew theoretically it was impossible for the pictures to be erased totally, and thankfully i was right - i managed to salvage 90% of them despite the card being completely wiped

so now i'm trying to find out what caused it... the memory card was a cheap ebay 2.0gb job.... it done the job up to now (had it about 3/4 months)... it wouldn't read in my memory card reader, but it would read through usb cable so that was grand. It saved pictures/video etc..

i tried to copy the images back onto the card and they will copy, but won't display on the camera

the video's are recorded in MPEG4 and compressed in divx i've also tried to copy them but they won't play either in the camera.

Basically, the camera won't display any images/videos copied from the PC to the memory card. It will only display new pictures/video taken with the camera.

it's no big deal, at least i have the pics on file now, but it's handy just to show friends/family on the TV.

What I would try is remove the file system from the card in Windows disk management and then create it again and format it as FAT16.

Then run scandisk with fix file system errors ticked on C:\ or which ever drive has the recovered files just in case something might be up with them and scandisk can correct it.

    Worth a chance at least.
