    This Forum is designed to allow discussion of any and all matters relating to adoption, especially as it pertains to Ireland.

    This Forum may not be used to advertise goods or services of any nature, to do so will result in an automatic ban for the offending person.

    While this forum is designed primarily for adopted people (and their natural relatives), it can be used by anyone.

    This forum is a public forum and available to anyone with internet access to peruse messages posted. As such, while the forum is moderated, you will be held responsible for anything you post. You should also avoid specifically identifying individuals in your posts, especially in relation to tracing relatives. So, for example, it may be fine to post first names, or general addresses (e.g., ‘Dublin’), but not full names or specific addresses belonging to individuals (e.g., ’25 Main Street, Dublin’), or any other information whatsoever which may purposely or inadvertantly identify another person.

    All registered members of www.boards.ie may post to this forum. Anonymous premoderated posting may be allowed, but is not available at present. If you wish to post anonymously, please PM/E-Mail a moderator who will post on your behalf.

    What can we talk about on this forum?
    Its purpose is to facilitate discussion on anything relating to adoption. That can mean tracing, reunion, changes to legislation, research, personal experiences, and so on. Postings off-topic will be moved to an appropriate forum or the recycle bin at the discretion of forum moderators.

    Other rules:

    People are expected to exercise good 'netiquette' and manners when posting or replying to posts on this forum.

    If you disagree with what another forum user posts- refute the post, without attacking the poster. Personal abuse of any posters will not be tolerated- and will result in a ban from the forum and possible further sanctions at the discretion of the forum and category moderators.

    If you are replying to a lengthy post, snip the contents of the previous post, leaving only the parts you are replying to.

    Don’t use ‘bad’ language. Boards uses a programme which will automatically remove any words considered obscenities.

    Posts of an offensive nature will not be tolerated under any circumstance, and the poster may have their rights to post in the forum temporarily or permanently revoked, at the discretion of the moderator.

    Terms you are likely to encounter:
    The following are the more common adoption-related terms you’ll likely encounter:
    Bmom/bmam/bmother all mean birth mother;
    Nmom/nmam/nmother all mean natural mother;
    Amom/amam/amother all mean adoptive mother;
    Bparents / Aparents (pretty obvious)

    All users of this forum are responsible for the contents of their own posts individually. Neither Boards.ie nor the moderators bare/accept responsibility for the content of any post.

    What happens if the terms above are breached?
    Forum moderators may ban anyone from the forum, or suspend them from posting to the forum for a period of time, or ensure that all of a person’s posts require approval by a moderator before being posted to the forum.

    Who are the moderators?
    The current forum moderators are listed at the bottom of the root page of this forum.

    Can I link to other resources?
    You can link to other resources on this site. Do not link to external resources, as the moderators cannot verify or vouch for the veracity of information or members of sites, other than Boards.ie and its affiliated websites.
