With the unusual controler and lower power than the new machines is the Wii going to get as many games as the other two?

Well it will get the big ones that are on loads of platforms i.e call of duty
but ya there will definetly be some ones that will only be on ps3 and xbox 360 but its not all bad like how xbox 360 and ps3 are getting resident evil 5 and the wii is getting its own one.
We are getting a lot of games suited for the wii that the other platforms could never dream of let alone the top notch ones from nintendo

don't forget, the Sony controller has 6-degree motion-sensing too, it's just not as intuitively shaped as the copyright-infringing Nintendo one so there may be some gameplay mechanics that will work on the PS3 and Wii that don't translate to the 360 (although with the massive difference in processing power it's unlikely that you'll get many crossovers of this nature). Like 1huge1 says, you'll probably find that each platform gets their own game but individual licenses will be cross platform - after all, they develop seperate titles for the DS and PSP, what's the difference? NAturally though, that means you'll get a lot of piss-poor EA games that make little use of the extra capabilities of the Wii and only remind you of how limited it is. Things will get interesting once developers learn to push the PS3 processor to the limit since that will force a seperation between the 360 and the PS3 (especially once they come up with in-order optimised AI for an 8 core proc), but that's a conversation for another board :)

Surprising thing is, EA are producing some games with fantastic use of the controller, with a piss poor version released for the PS3 so go figure.

Just look at Madden 07 for the most blatant example.

And according to some developers, the PS3 is a mess. Spec obsessed, but terrible to develop for, thus I think that the Xbox360 is the HD console to go for, but the Wii will have the most fun games to play.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not some slavering Sony fan boy. I won't buy anything of their's on general principle, and I've stuck with Nintendo dispite the mistakes of the N64 that they made again with the Cube (namely the poorly thought-out release schedule that lost the platform momentum and precious space in retail outlets).

But at the same time I'm not blinkered - the Wii has very limited prospects in terms of hardware. It's similar enough to the Cube that there's not a lot of headroom for new optimisations that aren't already known about. That's great for developers right now, because they can push the Wii as hard as it can go right from the start. But even so, it still doesn't compete for prettyness with the year old 360, and the lack of processing oomph is going to really pinch in the next few years as the calculations required to create immersive worlds full of realistic physics and environmental effects just wont be possible on that lovable little white box.

I hate to admit it but the PS3, for all the mistakes they've made in development and distribution, is still going to be the king of the consoles. In a year, year and a half's time though, once developers get their heads around the intricacies of programming for the PS3, and once they get their IPTV off the ground they'll be leaving us in the dust.

Back on topic though, the wide appeal of the Wii controller combined with the non-existant learning curve for existing Cube developers should mean the Wii gets more, not less games than the other platforms, at least in the short term. Nintendo just need to keep the momentum going with regular unmissable releases to reassure the market that they're not doing another N64 (or another Cube) on this one.

you have a point about thw ps3 but I honestly can't see people buying it at such a price therefore develpors who are going for the high graphics will go for the x box 360 imo

I'm not so sure on the developers going with the PS3 either... Gabe Newall (Head of Valve) isn't a but fan...

"The PS3 is a total disaster on so many levels, I think It's really clear that Sony lost track of what customers and what developers wanted," Newell reportedly said in an interview with Game Informer.

He continued: "I'd say, even at this late date, they should just cancel it and do a do over. Just say, 'This was a horrible disaster and we're sorry and we're going to stop selling this and stop trying to convince people to develop for it'."

It's a different story with Nintendo, however, Newell revealing he really likes "everything that Nintendo is doing."

"The happy story is the Wii," he said. "I'm betting that by Christmas of next year, the Wii has a larger installed base than the 360. Other people think I'm crazy."

Half-Life on the Wii suddenly seems a lot more feasable ;)

Personally I'm waiting more on Portal than on HL2 Ep2...

EA actually have a separate team making their franchise titles from scratch for the Wii, a team that is far more talented than the rest of EAs dev teams. Madden 07 on the Wii is supposedly the version of choice and far better than the 'HD' effort.

At the rate the Wii seems to be selling worldwide I can really see the Wii pulling a 'DS' and getting the choice developers and games. You can't get a Wii for love nor money in most parts of the world yet there are PS3's available anywhere you look in America and lots taking up shelf space in Asia. Most of the big name devs have expressed genuine excitement about developing games for the Wii. It's way too early to write off yet but as you say the only thing that could slow it down is an awful spread out release schedule.
