Anyone work for AIB Capital Markets?

I have been told by the head of my college course that AIB Capital Markets are very intersted in hiring graduates from my course and are hoping to come in and speak to us soon. I would consider applying for a graduate position there next year, but I have no idea what they would be like to work for!

I'm just wondering what they are like to work for? What are the long term promotional prospects like? Do they pay well? Are the working conditions good (laid back or extremely hectic?)? I dont know anyone working there so I am very keen to find out any information about them.

I'd say that I would be going into Treasury, Corporate Finance, Asset Management or something along those lines as that is what my course is aimed at. Which of these would be the best in terms of pay and promotional prospects?

    Thanks,

    Stephen.

I've applied for the graduate programme too, so would be interested to hear responses.

I know two people on the graduate programme there and they both enjoy it. The social scene seems good and they are generally not burdenned by long hours.

I would imagine that given the size and nature of the company that there is significant scope for internal promotion throughout and across departments.

Have the aptitude test next month for capital markets. For the life of me, i can't find out what it entails. If anybody could shed some light on the situation i'd be most grateful.

Probably includes numeric and verbal tests. Check out SHL on google its what all the companies in the UK use.

Also ask HR what will be on it they should be willing to tell you.

I work for AIBCM. It's difficult to answer your questions accurately because I think it really depends on the area you end up in.
In general, I find it a good place to work. I've had excellent training and development opportunities while working there.
I think it all really depends on your level of motivation and what you want to get out of the job. Sorry if this seems a little vague but it's difficult to answer as each area is going to be different as will each indivdual experience.

I had an interview for the grad program yesterday. In my original application, I put down 6 preferences with no.1 being Investments. As i only got called for one aptitude test (and not a second as I understood Capital Markets requires) does this mean that I have been unsuccessful on my 1st preference?? It may seem like a daft question but when they interview you, they don't actually specify which department they're interviewing you for. They tell you that you can be placed in any of your preferences.

Also my situation is probably different to most other applicants as I got my degree last summer and have been working full time since. Not sure if this is seen as an advantage or a disadvantage! Should I happen to get accepted to the Grad program, would I be advised to accept and possibly take a wage cut? Is the AIB grad program all it's cracked up to be?

Any views/opinions would be much appreciated? cheers :)
