hi guys is there anyway to find out if games from the U.S. can be used on the Wii here? i heard reports that it depends on the game but is there anyway to find out?

There's one way to find out, by listening to me:

No US games will work on a Wii here.

Datel is working on a Freeloader for the Wii but until that comes out there isn't any hope.

Retr0gamer is spot on, the Wii is region encoded. Regardless of which title you get, if it's US it won't work on an EU Wii.

its probable the biggest mistake made with the Wii so far (bigger then the graphics complaint) as the region free aspect proved to be one of the DS strong points and clearly many of nintendo's games that dont get released across the seas have proven their popularity (Elite Beat Angels is an obvious example) and gotten a us/euro release date.
