Is anyone still receiving international post that was posted before christmas?

I sent a letter from NZ on Dec 4th to Ireland. According to track and trace it arrived in Ireland on the 5th Jan. Just wondering if there is still is a back log of christmas post to get out.

Don't know about international but I got a Christmas card yesterday sent to Dublin 4 posted from Dublin 20, dated the 20th of December. Cheers for that An Post!

I received a card from the US on Friday, it had been sent on the 7th of December. Cards I sent to Holland on the 5th or 6th of December arrived there within the last week, and 2 cards that I sent on the 9th of December have not yet been received in the US and Australia...

... I have no faith in the postal system at Christmas time, and with good reason it seems!

I received 2 parcels last Friday morning that were both sent from the UK, one on 14th and one on 18th December. So yes.

Prob stuck in a long queue then :(

There wasn't a problem with parcels, sent one a few days after the letter and that arrived before christmas.

December 2nd here. Received nothing - not a word and there is someone available to collect it if it had shown up. I'm wondering if it got seized at Customs but I would have thought I'd have gotten a letter if that was the case.

December 2nd!! Jebus!! The package I'm waiting on is €300 earphones from the States. In fairness to the seller he has given me a full refund, until it arrives!

Must just be a pre-Christmas backlog, because I've ordered stuff online since Christmas and received it all pretty quickly.

It is crazy how long it takes. You can get from any civilised part of the world to any other part within about 48 hours. So even at Christmas you'd expect that you could post something and it would get to any civilised part of the world in 7 to 10 days at most. Seeing final Christmas posting dates for somewhere like Australia being at the beginning of December seems absolutely crazy. Obviously there is a huge increase in the amount of post and an item may have to go through several journeys to get to where it is going, but it still should do it in 10 days, being generous.

    So say, Dublin to Australia:
    Posted on Day 1.
Sorted in Dublin on Day 2.
Sent to England and from London to Australia over the course Days 3,4,5.
Sorted and sent from arrival point in Australia to destination city on days 6 and 7.
Delivered to your final destination on day 8.

Add in days to that for additional delays and your are talking about 10 or 11 days or so. So why does it have to be posted about 3 times as long as that, before Christmas?

I ordered two items form 7dayshop on the 8th of december.

The items were split in two and sent on the same date. One arrive a week later the other arrivved last week. Doesnt make sense to me

I sent a package from here in Canada on Dec 8th. Yesterday, I got it back saying that there wasn't enough postage paid. Fair enough.

But presumably, it never even left the country, maybe it didn't even leave the city, yet it took over a month to get back to me.

I guess the postal system is crap all over the world.

Two (medium) padded envelopes, posted on 7th Dec (one from U.S. the other from U.K.!) arrived same time yesterday!
    Figure that one out!
An Post needs a serious overhaul.
