legal aid

    Say for a public order offence? How does sumone apply for free legal aid? Do you need to earn less then a certain amount of money to be approved. Do you apply before the court case or when you stand up infront of the judge..All info welcome.

    I doubt you can get legal aid for a public order offence. The offence usually has to have the possibility of jail time for you to get legal aid.

    You simply ask the judge when your case is called.

    If you have a solicitor you want, talk to them and ask them to do the paperwork. Ultimately I think its the judge who decides if you get it or not.

    Must satisfy means test and be in jeapodary of going to prison. You are unlikely to be in jeapodary on a public order charge unless you have multiple prior offences.
