Hi.. I've booked a trip to Oslo in March with some mates; just wondering what we should do/see?? Anyone ever been? How is the nightlife? Will it be as expensive as I'm lead to believe? Or as cold?

Also, do we get Duty Free since Norway is not an EU member state?

Never been to Oslo, but to a good few other parts. It is very expensive, although the gap is closing compared to Ireland now vs. 4-5 years ago.

I remember them selling cigarettes in singles though, around 2000, and they were equivalent of 80p each behind the bar. That is one to make people quit!

I've been to other parts of Norway but eating out & especially drink is REALLY expensive. You can buy duty free so I would suggest that you make that your first stop. You certainly won't be going on any benders over there! Night life isn't the best. Fabulous country though.

Yea Im headin to Oslo next wednesday and theres aparently this pass thingy you can get like one two ro three day costing like 210,300 and 390noks like respectively. Im just wondering if anyones got it and knows if its worth the money cause the 3days like £50 stg so if its crap- thats a big waste of money.
is it worth getting if for the whole three days - or less- or not at all?

I was in Oslo Summer '05. It is the most expensive city I have been in in the world. €2 for a can of coke in a shop. €1.50 to use practically every public toilet.

There's not really much to do or see, it's a bit dead. Best thing I did when I was there was go to a football match in the Ullevaal stadium which was good fun. Few stars on show for Valarenga: Ronny Johnsen, Stefan Iversen and Tore Andre Flo.

Sweden is much better and quite a bit cheaper too. I recommend Gothenburg.
