heading to new york in november and looking for a good value hotel around times square area

i researched a bit and found this

looks to be spot on except its a bit dated.

has anyone been there or does anyone have any recommendations for that area.

    cheers in advance

looks fairly similar to the first hotel in new york that we ever stayed in;the milford plaza,i believe they like to call themselves "tourist class",basically you pay for a cramped/dated/mouldy room BUT its near time sq. so thats alright! the edison appears to be the best of the bunch, would'nt recommend the milford plaza to anyone but if you're the partying type and don't expect to spend much time in the room then i guess it would do,there are some better hotels nearby, checkout tripadvisor, look for anything between 42nd and 48th streets.

I stayed in the Edisson last October. Its smack bang in the middle of Times Square. It is very very basic but cheap and clean. I found it to be quit noisey there too but I suppose thats to be expected in any hotel round there.

You can't go far wrong with Tripadvisor for this kind of thing. The hotel in question gets some mixed reviews.
