Whatta do between Boston and New York June 2007?

So here's the thing, my sister and I are heading to the US in June for two weeks. We're flying into Boston and out of New York. We've already decided on spending the second week in New York. That leaves us with what to do with the first week of our stay.

Obvious thing would be to set up camp in Boston for that week. But many moons ago I did the J1 thing in Boston and seem to remember that while there's enough diversions to keep you going for a few days, it might be stretching it to try to find fun stuff to do for the whole week. So I was thinking maybe there's somewhere not a million miles away from Boston and accessible by public transport (a big if?) that might be nice to crash for a couple of days as a diversion. Any suggestions? (Nothing wildly expensive if it can be helped) Our plan would be to travel from Boston to New York by train at the end of our first week.

And while I'm at it, any must-see/must-do/must-eat/must-drink/must-whateveryou'rehavingyerself recommendations for Boston or New York (or in between)?

    Hey there,

I'd like to hear some replies on this also as myself and my girlfriend are doing the same trip in late June. We are visiting a good freind in Boston who is taking a 'vacation' in Cape Cod for a 3 days. That is in driving distance but it might not be what your after. I've no idea if its any good or not but we are heading along anyway. I hope its not the mosney of Boston but I'll research it before we go.

Sorry to butt in on your thread coola but I'd also like to know of any cool live music venues that anyone might know about?
