Quick Q regarding XBOX 360 HD AV Cable..

Bit of a longshot and i sincerally doubt it but worth a shot...

Is the Xbox 360 Component High Definition AV Cable (as seen here!) compatible with the original XBOX? Or simply has the connection in the back of the XBOX changed between the original and 360?

I presume it has but it would make life a whole lot easier for me since i just purchased a scart cable with optical-out cable and my surround sound system only has the 9 RCA plugs.

Only solution i can see is to buy a digital decoder to put the optical cable into to convert to the 5.1 (6 RCA) standard and it's far from a cheap solution! :(`

Whoa whoa whoa.. actually, will this do it?

Looks like it will.. and if so, just wasted €15 on a scart cable i don't need!

Hold on are you just looking for 5.1 surround sound from your Xbox?

Yes.. bought one of the advanced XBOX scart cables but my sound system hasn't the optical-in which is the only option with the cable i bought.

    Or how about this one?

Too many alternatives.. don't know the right one.

Sorry, but I'm pretty sure you need a reciver that will take an optical input... I dont think they do any that you can hook up with 6 RCAs!

Yeah, i'm pretty sure of that that too but that last one looks close!

Can anyone identify (what look like) the 6 RCA inputs on that cable?

You have red green and blue for a HD TV with component connections, you have yellow for standard video and red and white for left and right audio, then there's an s-video connection for video and the optical output and lead...

    Ah right so... cheers!

Guess a 5.1DD / DTS Decoder is the only way to go...!
