Superman 2 - The Donner cut

    Hey
I just watched this film . I must say I really enjoyed this version, it was like a
    totally different film.
The only bad thing was , a lot of the scenes were screen tests so the acting was really
bad, even when the scene was pretty much the same as the original.

Now here's another mystery, according to Donner these scenes were just recently
found and the film put together..
However I remember when I was a kid watching SM2 on RTE , It wasn't the Donner cut
but some of the scenes were in it (but not in the original)
    I remember especially the scene
where SM destroyed his home at the end!!
I also remember more stuff like SM flying past the concorde (i think) on
his way to Paris (as this was left out completely I know it wasn't the donner cut).

But there was another version with lots of extra scenes !!

How did RTE get a hold of this in the late 80's !.

anyone else remember this, I couldn't be imagining it
cos i saw the Donner cut for the 1st time this weekend, and
    definetely remember that end scene....

RTE did show extended cuts of Superman 1 and 2 in the early eighties alright. Both versions were about 30 minutes longer than the theatrical cuts and were originally shown on ABC in the States. The scene where Superman destroys the Fortress of Solitude did appear in this version of Superman II.

All the info on the additional material contained in the ABC cut can be found here

I used to have them both on VHS (taped off RTE) but I don't anymore, unfortunately.

Thread revival. Just watched the Donner Cut on BluRay. Much better film, test screening scenes included. The film overall was far more powerful. Recommended if you get the chance.
